A tweetchat about webcomics, indie comics, and the people who love them.
#ExploringComics is on indefinite hiatus
Due to medical problems, a general lack of activity, and upcoming changes in my own availability, the chat had to be set aside for the time being. I am open to doing it again or handing it off to someone else, but there will need to be some proper planning and consideration for how to make it work before either can be realized. Thank you for the engagement so far, and your patience on this matter.
The goal of #ExploringComics is to expand conversations about the process, publicity, and community of small press comics to include more of the people reading and working on them. Topics for each week will usually* reflect those discussed in the Exploring Comics podcast, with the tweetchat inviting you to join the conversation.
* - The podcast occasionally covers conventions or specific comic communities. On those weeks, the tweetchat will instead use a topic from an old episode, revisit a discussion that needed more time, or a completely different topic as needed.
No. The podcast and the tweetchat are two sides of one project, one isn't designed to advance the other. They do have a close relationship - they will usually cover the same topic, both are shared publicly by the same twitter handle (@ExploringComics), both are overseen by the same person, etc. Also, the guest of the relevant podcast episode will get a promo at the beginning of each chat. This promo is for them or their project, not the episode. It may be beneficial to listen to the episode, at least as inspiration, but the twitter account will not advertise for it during the tweetchat.
How does this work?
Twice a week, #ExploringComics will occupy one hour to ask questions of the small press comics community to talk about topics relevant to what we do. This begins with a post asking people to introduce themselves and a promo for the guest of that previous Friday's podcast episode. This will be followed by five questions at ten-minute intervals, the fifth of which will always be that participants recommend comics related to the topic that others should read.
The chat goes live at 6:00 pm Eastern time (GMT-5 or -4, depending on Daylight Savings Time in the United States) onTuesdays, and repeats at 7:00 am Eastern on Thursdays. Questions will post simultaneously to Twitter and Facebook.
